I remember whan I was a little boy,
My father always took me to the beach and Interzidal zone,
To catch colorful fish, to see the amazing corals,
And heard the sound of the waves…
So I guess that is why i hate the sunset so much,
Cause although how beautiful and mystic of the sunset,
But it's a sign to leave the sea and go home:p
I kept bringing some fishes to home and try to make they alive,
But all I do was only bring death to them.
So I gave up the salt tank and start building a aquatic plants tank,
Untill to the summer of the last year of my collage.,
We took a trip to the island, and I saw so many strange and unique fish,
Some have a long nose, and some have a lovely wings....
So when I got home(dormitory, actually:lol:), I remove the plants form my tank,
And brough 3 live rocks to the tank,
After 30 mins, I start my sea fish tank.....
And that was a bad memory.......because they all dead after two weeks....

But I did not give up this time....
And allow me to show you the 5th tank, and it's also the second sps tank of mine

Thank for u all..I am glad u love it,
My tank is very small, the size is 88cm(length)*69cm(width)*55cm(height),
I wish I can change size to 6" at least....:inlove:
I using HQI before, for about 6 month, and change to T5 form 2011 11 to now,
39w Phillips 10000k *2, 39w orsam 865 *2, and 39w orsam blue *2,
Besides, I add about 100w LEDs to enhance the blue light

Here is the equipments..

I cant believe the colours you get out of the sps using Phillips and Osram t5 bulbs. They look way better than any ATI t5 tubes and at a cheaper price. All I can do is just drool over your amazing tank. You guys in Taiwan have some nice setups, Kake sps tank been one of them.

Truly an amazing tank very well done and your lighting is unbelievable. Do you add anything to the tank to feed the corals?

Hi trueblackpercula, i add some plankton (usually buy freezing one), amino acid(twice weekly), and some kinds of powder coral foods....

This tank is by far one of the best tanks I've seen. Great work!

I know you have soo many specimen in the tank, but would you be able to point out some of the names for the corals in the tank?

Thanks...:inlove:, i'll post some pics to show you~

wow awesome looking corals.
your tank looks like it is verging on an ulns..
what do you feed the tank and what are you n and p levels?

Well......maybe you don't believe, the NO3 level is always above 50......
but there few alga in my tank(maybe is because that i have a refugium), instead, when i have started to overfeed the sps, they started to grow colorfully and glow.....

By the way, years ago i was suffer form the alga, i almost quitted.......
but after i added some fishes and soldier crabs to eat them, and added a refugium, the alga was gone, so happy......:inlove::inlove:

Beautiful tank. Great lancscaping and coral placement. Says alot about your character, by not giving up. Your never too young or old to learn something. This is not a hobby but a way of life and an excellent teacher of patience and creativity.

I can't agree with you more:thumbsup:
i have to wait patiently.....

Absolutely superb!

How thick is the sandbed? Anymore information on your filtration?

Thanks!!!

5cm~8cm, depend on the mood of gobies... :headwalls::headwalls:
and l have a small refugium (15cm * 30cm * 40cm)...

but i don't like ATI bulbs.....too pale.....

I used N/P pellets before for a month , but its too danger, so i stopped to use that.

nice so you replaced all corals when added sand ?

Yes~~~~~that was a terrible memory...........i also cut most of sps,
share it to my good friends and keep some frags......
make sure if someday i lost them, i could get the species back...
there are also many species in my tank sharing by my friend...

I can only wish to accomplish something so beautiful in my future hobby (obsession)

This is made from Taiwan, "HC skimmer,"
it is quiet and efficiency~~:celeb2:

Many thanks! I use bright and luminous LED light
(including three different wavelength: 480nm, 450nm, & 410nm),
and keep the water clean, maybe it's the key......

Thanks to all you guys....

Recently i tried to add honey to my tank, one drop a day
and keep dosing for about 1~2 month
i did it for two reason, one is add amino acid
and two is to reduce the NO3 & PO4
Maybe you can try it.

And I got three type led with different spectrum (410, 450, 470nm)
the total power watt level of led light is about 250W
and use six 39W T5 lamps, two Philips 10000k, two Osram 8800k, and two Osram blue light

Thanks for you advise, i used to drop too much honey,
and raised the NP contrarily...

Well, the N/P pellet is a great product for sure,
but it probably not suit for the sps raising,
for it strong and spanking effect on reducing the N/P level,
that will make the sps RTN......

How many gallons of water do you have
Do you do water changes
Do you feed you sps food
Do you run GFO or carbon
What are you Alk,calcium magnisium,temp salinity ?
what lighting do you have and how long are they on
Are you dosing anything else

Before I start dosing honey if I dose honey ever I would like to Know what other variables there are.

Milk's got a lot of good stuff in it. Proteins, enzymes, vitamins... Even some carbs and a little bit of phosphate as in calcium phosphate...
In a low nutrient system, I could see this being beneficial..
I wouldn't dare add it to a nutrient rich system..

lol ..... I think i have marriage phobia recently.....
that means i can't get up at night to inspect tank status....:uzi:
I start keeping a reef tank for ten years, in retrospect , the reef tank
accompanied me to get through the worst days pursuing phd degree...

Cut the crap....
Thanks for the reply my friends, I really add real milk and honey,
and the NO3 & PO4 values are always around 20~50(before) & 0.05(usually)
i add milk 10cc per day, I stop adding honey about 3 months,
because I want to examine the effect of the milk
the milk can help coral growth fast including sps and lps,

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3794/11265431315_ce4b6a1ffc_c.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7449/11238118905_ca626f8991_c.jpg

The original purpose I add milk is increase the fatty acid for the tank to avoid sps skin peeling, compared to add the commercial products, is heterogeneous, often incongruous mixture of elements, i prefer to add milk,

but i add milk after alga disappear, and sps become the major creature,
or there will bring the disaster

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7381/10962610573_7c1cc6e401_b.jpg

By the way, the NO3 values is about 0.5~5 after start adding honey,
if you want to know more information, please let me know, thks!

You have the most amazing SPS corals, it looks like Reef Raft might be getting their frags from you, some of your corals looked similar to RR.
Also what caused the crash hope not the milk dosing, I am seriously thinking of trying this out.

Please, be as specific as posible when you tell us how you dose honey and milk. What type of honey (raw, processed, tipe of flowers the bees make it from) and milk, (is it soya, lamb or cow milk?) and how much per gallon or liter.

I'm opening this thread every day expecting to find your recipe.

Forgive me my friend, i moved to new house for the marriage couple week ago, but there are no web, no TV cable, even no radio, l have to come back to my parents house to use the internet, and I must emphasize that the dosage must be very careful, and have to go with honey(100L for 1cc milk and 1 drop honey, but not for every tank), and the timing is the key of success, or the damage could be huge.....i won't suggest using the method if the tank is full as alga

After everything get back on track, i will record the detail of what happened in my tank from I started using milk as the food....by the way, I tried egg, yogurt, condensed milk and bean milk, the whole milk is best choose

The honey and milk is ingenious.
"Typical honey analysis:[45]
Fructose: 38.2%
Glucose: 31.3%
Maltose: 7.1%
Sucrose: 1.3%
Water: 17.2%
Higher sugars: 1.5%
Ash: 0.2%
Other/undetermined: 3.2%"
Which is acting possibly like a diverse carbon dosing source? Plus its decently water soluble because it is 17.2% water itself.
Milk is an emulsion of proteins, lactose and lipids. The main protein in milk, casein, bonds around nano clusters of calcium phosphate, which possibly the sps can absorb through night time feedings. I'm guessing it is a way to ferry large amounts of consumable food stuffed with important elements to the sps, in a conveniently water soluble suspension. decent amounts of potassium as well I think?
I'd bet that the serious polyp extension that this gorgeous tank (well done xjoyhugo, well done) displays is because of the amount of food the sps catch and consume thus they realize that if they have more polyp extension they will catch more foods?

Here is how he explains it on his site. Translated to English :) Not sure if I understand :)

Let everyone waiting .... I had just thought of ... but certainly is the last bunch of crap ... please be patient look at my share text
Also thank you enthusiastic to help me do a bunch of funny prologue ....
(Note: The following feeding method applies only sound in the nitrification tank, if the tank has a large number of unknown breed algae mud,
It must be added a small amount)
I also forgot about even when it began to increase milk was just subconsciously think that this should be added with
BIO is mainly used nitrifying bacteria that brand food, save a lot of time fast albino death bony,
In fact, only to find mad pull NP and not so useful, but also slowly think about what is really needed is a hard bone
Then check some information, the Internet saw some videos introduced gradually summed bony three main food source
That is, I have been brainwashed with her friends three acid co-constitutive sps France
In fact, I add milk + honey to have a long history, but has not been so exaggerated,
Just two months ago just down the cylinder again, began a dead horse a living horse medicine madness additions, but it seems to really be me Mongolia, the effect has come out
So come and share with you my experience .... reconstruction

These three acids are:

1 Carbonate
2 fatty acids
3 amino acids

One of the previously mentioned NO3 / PO4, organic salt? This is the hard bone of the food sources that,
But NO3 / PO4 mainly symbiotic algae provide food, such as symbiotic algae ingestion NP & light source, it will release food for sps
And those of us crazy sps keepers, symbiotic algae do not like too much, so try to be better food directly to sps

The first and most important thing is to KH value carbonate, by the level of the tank to determine,
If the lack of carbonic acid, amino acids and fatty acids to add even more, hard bone is unable to absorb the good will ultimately be absorbed by algae and mud algae low
So try to make Kh value of not less than five fish tank, but do not experience the value of which is higher than 12 ...... ....
(Here hug Senge thigh)
If low nutrient feeding fish tank, kh be between 6 to 7 medium is 7 to 8, and then a little dirty is 8-9 (that is younger brother)
Next came the amino acids and fatty acids,
It is said that there are dozens of different kinds of amino acids, amino acids (amino acid) is the basic element of protein synthesis,
That can promote the synthesis of fluorescent protein, so in order to make their own sparkling bony fluorescent protein, amino acids are essential elements
(Before it becomes fluorescent fluorescent protein has not yet begun, but also black Lulu's)
I started adding KZ of AA, which is Amino Acid, Amino Acid really useful experiment
Continuous feed a few days later, and with increased exposure time approach, there are some bony brighter, but still some bony white out or black out
But I believe the white bony hacked off should be placed in the wrong location, plus the number of younger inverted cylinder has fast caught up A Quan,
So that trees slightly adjusted his position, basically to determine the amino acid feasible ....
However, the effect of KZ AA is too slow, so I picked up the milk to try,
I remember about six months ago for the first time on the board mentioned that I have fed milk with honey, then someone (do not know) wrote to ask me whether it is true
Delegation visited Taipei on a few months ago, when everyone in the principal collection downstairs, there was much to ask what I have to feed
Fed milk .... I said I was finished, many people face are also .... it is true ......
In fact, the milk will become fatty acids and amino acids, as well as a large number of organic salts after being decomposed .....
So feeding milk to wait until the mud algae inside the aquarium almost disappear when you can add

Fatty acids are let bony skin thickening important food, and the synthesis of amino acids is important to make fluorescent protein food, and milk can provide these two
If you drank the milk inside the home, it can also be the way to drink milk ... add a little to the aquarium,
Milk and milk one is vegetable protein, an animal protein,
Relatively speaking algae can reduce the generation of mud, but the bacteria to digest milk as well as enhanced functionality
(Ps: I fed a micro sugar milk, convenience stores to buy, be careful not to buy a chain of breakfast restaurants of milk, that is grinding, plus down completely useless, bony will shrink hair, my fish tank add milk will burst down the hair, I guess the root of sugar related)

(DD Red Dragon super invincible .... inverted cylinder before when color miserable faint .. Later strengthen slowly fill color after feeding back)

But it organic salts, organic salts have needs? Basically organic salts are sps and symbiotic algae or algae will absorb lower food, is the major metabolite of biological
Organic low-salt fish tanks, such as the bare cylinder, you can very easily raise a jelly color bony,
But the definition of organic salts quite wide, basically as long as the chemical composition while C, H (carbon with hydrogen) can be called organic
Into soluble and insoluble, (Because I was not very knowledgeable on the chemical make a mistake, please strongly advise ..)
After bioabsorbable organic salts, such as calcium and magnesium, and other elements can be boron, potassium and other synthetic nutrients,
So organic salts are also essential source of food,
Usually flutter aquarium sand color would be more thick that comes

Observe a brother, algae and mud algae (algae is not algae mud Oh) organic salt absorption rate, far too coral absorption rate
So much organic salt waters are usually clustered algae, algae makes the water a strong nutrition are robbed
Coral also makes it difficult to survive, the opposite, the organic salt and low waters, such as Fiji, Australia and so on,
Bony colors are very clean, is quite small Fijian waters algae
It also recently came to understand the truth, the first few pages previously mentioned lower organic salts, nutrients must be high,
It was by her friends and their own experience gained, plus theory was corroborated later, become easier to convince yourself

But
Hi embarrassed system ....

We simply raising a fish tank, it is necessary to know so much?
Fish focused experience, theoretical just a secondary, just a flavoring agent
I found a better person sps raised, must often spend a lot of time to observe the changes in the color of the fish tank inside sps
Then often and her friends to share their experiences rearing,
This is my last few years slowly raised good reason .......
The main driving force is the cylinder can be quickly rebuilt after the fall of friends ~ ~
Thank you very much waiting for me for so long

Has anyone tried dosing milk or honey since viewing this thread?

Where is Hugo? He just sold everybody snake oil and skipped town.

Seems to me that writing in English is not something he likes to do very much. I think his thread is alive and well on the Chinese site.
If I had a total ulns, I'd try it out but I think it's pretty important to be totally uln..
Not for everybody, for sure.. But I wouldn't call it snake oil..

So it seems that Hugo redid his tank in June and since then he hasn't posted any updates..can't wait to see the new set up..

So....the formula is 1 cc milk (soy or whole milk?) plus 1 drop of honey (type? Pure honey?) per 100L or 26 US gallons of system water volume? AND this is per day? week?

Hugo, can we have updated photos please?

Also, are you running refugium/algae filter/chaeto algae in the sump? Thanks.

Just dosed 5ml of whole milk with a coral/fish feeding turned skimmer off for afew hours. My plan is to turn skimmer off 6 hours a day during daylight hours on my light timers we will see how that works if not I'll just run 24/7 and feed heavy with the milk as I already have a low nutrient environment

I'm running a 125 with a sump of around 30 gallons for those wonderin about my dosing ratio my dosage is 1ml whole milk per 26 gallons may add 1 drop honey with that we will see how the milk goes but for now I see that the milk would provide the greatest effect on coral color and growth. I'll keep all updated as I see results from testing

And if anyone knows a nice place in Illinois I just got my 125 back up 6 months ago and I'm trying to find a nice place or person to pick up frags for a decent price as I'm still upgrading old equipment any ideas as somewhere local with good prices are appreciated

Do you have a before and after picture?

1ml per 26 gallons... I have just started so it's not really even a week in yet. Also I just added hydra over my tank and I'm ramping up my feedings as I've been running a UNLS. I'll take some photo's tommorrow Of the current sps in my tank and when I finish I'll post the results.

Going to monitor water parameters. I started this tank around September of last year upgraded out of my 75 and sold alot of my corals and such... I kept maybe 100 lbs of lr that I've had in several systems through out the years so it's no where near a "new" system but like I've stated I've got afew factors going on. Some of my corals have been looking skinny and pale due to the ULNS and lack of me feeding so PE wasn't great. I'm feeding oyster feast every other day to every day as long as phosphate doesn't sky rocket. That has already helped with PE, my old led had no uv and I see some slight browNing on some of the corals as they are acclimation to the uv on the hydras

Yea , I'm so tempted to try this. I look at milk each day and wonder the possibilities....lol
You sure do have a lot of other factors that will skew the results. I am glad someone else is trying this.
Anyone else trying? Milk still sounds crazy but so did vodka the 1st time I heard of it.

This is all pretty interesting and I'm curious to see where the milk dosing goes- especially if more than one person tries it..
Spschief85, I think it would be best to start your own thread, however.
In case Hugo happens to come back... Just for clarity...
I'm sure there is some interest...

Good idea I shall start a thread... I've been so busy lately with work (cnc machine operator) 70 hours a week at that but it's slowing down some. On a side note I've noticed a little algae growing already nothing serious, possibly due to my gfo needing replaced. Everything so far looks good I've just been dosing whole milk (vitamin d) the sugar in it kind of worry me but I've used vodka and vinegar before with great results so I'm sure with consistency and heavy feeding everything will be fine. Everything had been looking skinny and pale I'm getting a bit more PE not alot of color yet. I'll make a thread to keep everyone posted

Spschief85, did you ever start that thread? I'd love to see how things are going in your tank..
