I am looking to connect 2 pieces of 1/4" id vinyl tubing together in a straight run. The only 1/4" barbed to 1/4" barbed fittings I have found were in brass. My tube for my water change into my sump is too short so I need to add on another 2 feet or so.

Any other ideas on how to connect these or where I could find a plastic connector locally? I have checked Home depot, Lowes, Ace and they all have them in brass but nothing for 1/4" ID.

You might be able to use this http://www.lowes.com/pd_14390-104-PL-3000_0__?productId=1017283&Ntt=watts+coupling&pl=1&currentURL=&facetInfo=, it is really meant to be used with the hard line like in a water line for a ice maker, but may work for you.

Why don't you just get a longer piece of tubing?

Good question, I new it would come sooner or later.

Because it would require alot of work to fish it back through 2 walls , under the stairs into my fish room. 1 miss measured by about a foot and a half. Plus it would require me to purchase new tubing wich would be more expensive.

gottalikesharks: that connector will not work asit is 1/2" od and 1/4" id tubing.

Check HD or Lowe's again... They have a selection of plastic barbed fittings close by the brass ones you found.

but I suppose I could try the 1/2" od quick connect. Next time I am at lowes I will check to see if they go together alright.

Yeah, I have checked numerous stores and nothing that small in plastic, only in brass.

I know I can get the part I need online and it cost $.62 but the shipping was close to $8.00.

I found your 1/4" plastic barb couplings at HD. Enter Orbit 1/4" barb into their search engine. They're in the sprinkler section.

My bad, guess I misread the question, how about this one? http://www.lowes.com/pd_33019-104-PL-3030_0__?productId=3371914&Ntt=watts+1%2F2-in+dia+coupling&pl=1&currentURL=&facetInfo=

The only problem with these http://www.lowes.com/pd_305768-74985-67402_0__?productId=3133799&Ntt=orbit+1%2F4%22&pl=1&currentURL=&facetInfo=, they will restrict the flow somewhat.
