I have what is probably hundreds of spirobids on the back wall of my 16gallon Nuvo. They're also in the back area, in my little area where I grow my chaeto, and even show up on my filter sponges which get switched out monthly.

Anything to worry about? I don't mind them. The back is getting covered with coraline too and the little white dots are kind of cool. Just want to make sure they are not bad other than if you don't like the look. From what I read people think they are a nuisance. It's weird how they grow all over the back but never seem to grow on the glass in the front (I guess the regular sweeps of the magnet cleaner brush them off before they get big enough for me to see them?)

Tank is 8mos old, all levels are zero (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate), calcium runs around 400, corals (mostly soft, 1 small brain, a few small LPS) and fish (pair of very small clowns) all look great. I haven't tested magnesium, PH 8.0, temp 80degrees steady.

I add Kent Essential Elements and Tech I (long acting iodine) weekly, do bi-weekly 20% water changes and add Liquid Calcium Reactor to keep calcium above 400 when it drops.

That is pretty common with relatively new tanks like yours . My numbers have alwa ys dwindled as the tank gets older. I would not worry about them . They do seem to thrive in shaded and dark areas .

Interesting, i never knew what those things were called but like you had tons of them on my back wall. Like mikefab said they diminished over time (tank is almost two years old) and I have not made note of them in a while. I just checked my tank and can't see any. As far as I could tell they did not do anything harmful to my tank

I am not sure if "spirobids" is spelt correctly.
