I got a new frag of Rastas and noticed this morning that one of the polyps is different colored, what could be causing this?

Lol! Jk! But I was super excited to see these, I have been looking for rastas since we got our tank. I just love the colors.

There are a couple of the polyps that are half colored, hopefully just young.. I was so happy to get these and it helped we got them for a reasonable price :)

I think they are just young and stressed in new environment. I noticed some polyps are also closed in the back. Are they also new additions?

A grandis,
They are nice, but they are pricey when they will just be grown over anyways.

Goldenfiji,
Yes those are also new, they are fruitloops, they are a couple of weeks older than the rastas. My husband and I stressed them out a lot by having them to high up under halides. We iodine dipped them and moved them under the overhang and they have started to open again...

I knew it was new as i saw the clean frag plug, and glue. No algae or aging marks. So I knew the polyps were freshly added. easy conclusion to stress to new environment. nice polyps and wish you success with them.

I noticed they were off colored when they opened for the first time. We brought them home and they went to sleep for the night and the next day that's what I saw.

Thanks! I hope they grow rasta fast, instead of slow as I have heard happens a lot.

Thanks for helping to ease my mind! :)

yeah that's typical from one tank placed to another

We didn't do a dip before adding them to our tank, and I was wondering if a Lugols dip would help them out?

A good update! Our Rastas are almost 100% better! The color has come back in quite nice!
