Does anyone have any advice for me? I would really love to have like 6 flame angels in my 300g reef tank. I know I need them small small so they haven't had a chance to all be males (I think that's right).

I saw a post a while ago where someone did this, but for the life of me I can not find it.

I have seen 3 in a 240, thriving for around 2 years. The owner kept everything well fed and he never had trouble with them bothering any of the coral. But on the flip side I have had to help tear a 180 apart to get a small flame out that was picking at every coral. The Dwarf angels are maybe as far as being reef safe.

Sounds like it would look really cool but I think you'd ultimately have issues somewhere down the line, and probably not that far either. Although, 300 gallon is pretty damn big.

Better invest in a good fish trap.

I think if you introduce at the same time you MIGHT have a decent shot....

It may work in a 300 since your are adding then at the same time but as everyone else said invest in a good fish trap and be prepared for coral nipping and possibly even fighting between the fish

I started with a med/large Flame and then later added a very small Flame a few months after that. The large one chased the smaller one but since I have quite a bit of birdsnest she a had fun time darting in and out of of it. After a couple of weeks it became a game with her to where she would come up at feeding time grab the food right out his mouth and run like heck into the birdsnest. I think it took a couple of months before they started swmming and eating together.

I think you might have luck with them amongst one another but good luck having a 6/6 success of them not picking at corals! Even if they don't from the start, they can quickly change behavior.

This is my biggest worry.

How is it that people get away with queens and well several large angels in coral tanks, yet the regal I had even ate my corals.
Harem of gold flakes? lol ouch to the wallet.

if you have an adult queen angel -you do not have a reef tank -you have a fish tank you keep stocked w/ food

I see it all the time though. A tank in town has several adult Angels, and full reef, huge SPS colonies.

I have a coral beauty and flame in my 110. I feed a lot and I've never had a coral nipping problem. I'd say feed them a lot to keep them happy and you should be alright. 300gal is biggg!
