View Full Version : Ramping oscillation intensity?

I have two Tunze 6055s set on individual VDM ports.
Each pump also has an individual profile that oscillate every .8 of a second 25%/100% which creates a nice wave current in the 75g tank.

My question is, can I also ramp the intensity up and down while they are oscillating at the 0.8 of a second?
I.e. right side gets progressively stronger -- from 25%/30% oscillations to 25%/100% oscillations, while left side gets progressively weaker -- from 25%/100% oscillations to 25%/30% oscillations.
Then when left side gets to 25%/30% oscillations, the process reverses sides.

Anyone have any input?

Are you wanting it to go from 25% to 100% in 0.8 seconds?

Yes, that would be the strongest oscillation for one side.
From there, I would like to progressively decrease the oscillation intensity on that side to 25% / 30% oscillations.

I am desiring to recreate a more natural tide.
Tide starts coming in slow i.e. low intensity oscillations, then as the tide gets moving, greater intensity oscillations, then the tide reverses, so the oscillations become weaker and the intensity begins increasing from the other side.

No, you can't vary the Max and Min settings over time within a defined Profile. I think the closest you can get is to use the Time command to swap different Profiles at different times of the day.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
Going to set it up on a time schedule, use 10 profiles for 10% steps, and 10 virtual outlets to switch the profiles.

You don't need to use virtual outlets. Just several Time commands, for example:

[VS_1]
Set OFF
If Time 08:00 to 08:09 Then Tide1
If Time 08:10 to 08:19 Then Tide2
If Time...

I have several profiles for my Tunzes which are used throughout the day and reference them in the VS outlet using the If Time statement. Not sure if that is the best way but it works.

Good points about the virtual outlets. I have always used them myself, but always wondered if they were actually necessary for this type of program.

Nothing wrong with using vo's, it's just not necessary in this case.
