Anyone keep a blue throat trigger around their clams?

Fatherree names Niger trigger as the only clam safe trigger fish (I forgot the page number!)

To clarify, if the the clam is larger than about 6 inches it is safer? Also, from my understanding of triggers the Blue Throat is smaller and more docile than a Niger, so why is the Niger okay?

I have maintained a pair of blue throat (blue jaw) triggers in a mixed 280g with no issues to clams or any of the other inverts. I also have maintained a pair of cross hatch triggers in a 225g with clams and had no issues either.

one or ten instances of no trouble is not a scientific sample. it's a faulty generalization. BUT if you do it best of luck. keep the triggers very full

I had a blue throat and a crosshatch in my 240 with 4 clams. The triggers never showed any interest in my clams. Shrimp added after the triggers were 50-50. The only other trigger that I would trust with a clam is a sargassum.

a diverse set of opinions seems to me to urge caution

Thanks all for the input. I picked up the pair last night and we will see how they do with the inverts after a month of QT. They are out swimming around eating like pigs this morning. The female seems the most out going even though she went through the most stress, we had to cut her out of the net when both of her "triggers" were caught.
