Will a175w eballast burn a 150w bulb without any issues?

Most 175-watt electronic ballasts will a operate a 150-watt lamp but it will overdrive the lamp. Depending on the ballast and the lamp, some lamps will be brighter, whiter/yellower and will most likely degrade the lamp at a faster rate. It is generally not recommended. The main risk is the lamp could operate beyond the designed operating temperature overtime. This could increase the risk of an arc tube (inner bulb) rupture.

It's an old e-ballast that's about 15 years old. It hasn't been used that much, probably less that two years of use. I'll probably just use a 175w bulb with it.
