firefish, gobies, and basslets are some of my favorite flashy reef safe fish. There are several types of each. I like Green Clown Gobies, my blue dot sleeper goby (excellent sand shifter), jennifer basslets because of their lovely colors, and elegant firefish also because of their colors and personality.

A Bangaii cardinal would look nice with the clownfish. The colors will compliment each other.

Please buy a tank bred specimen if you can find one. They are threatened in the wild.

Quite a few people are breeding them these days, check your local clubs if your LFS doesn't carry tank bred.

Tank bred huh? These fish are a dime a dozen round here. I hope they are tank bread like you said. Good stuff...

+1

Really awesome to look at and just enough quirky swimming habits to keep you entertained :)

Perhaps a Starry Blenny? One of my favorites in my tank. A midas is entertaining as well.

I love my lawnmower blenny. With his eyebrows, he looks like Ernest Borgnine.

should I get two cardinals or one will do fine I always see them in pairs or schools, also my local lfs don't have to many fish to choose from like the ones all of you suggested and I've never ordered any on line is it safe and what are the steps to doing so maybe this would be another thread I figure theres got to be somebody home all the time so when it arrives

Thanks for all the helpful posts on this topic. Nothing like lurking and learning before I jump into the setup phase.

*yellow or blue assessor...very hardy, beautiful and interesting
*royal gramma...gorgeous and peaceful and usually out front
*orchid dottyback...tankbred, least aggressive dottyback, gorgeous! nice personality
*black-lined fang blenny, very cool personality, beautiful, swims out in the open (venomous but unlikely to bite you unless you try to swallow it, in which case it will bite you on the tongue until you spit him out none the worse for wear) LOL!

If you get two Bangaii cardinals they need to be a mated male-female pair. Other cardinals like pajama and threadfins can be mixed sexes without aggression. I have some pajamas in my 300g. They are out and visible most of the time, mind their own business, and are pretty, IMO. I would like to add 4-5 threadfins but have heard they do not ship well. LFS in my area don't regulary carry them.

always seen them in schools never alone didn't know about the sexes ,my lfs does not carry them either and I don't think he knows how to tell the sexes have to order on line
