My tomini tang has white spots on his face. Its not ich i know what that looks like and its only on his face region. I have seen some with spots before but they are not as bright. Is this normal for this type of tang? I was planning to add him tonight but wanted to be sure. He is very sky and skidish i have failed to get any pics of him but hes eating well and plump been in Q tank for 3 and a half weeks no issues and the spots have always been there. thanks but again wanted to see if this was normal for tomini's

Normally have 2 white spots kinda between the eyes. At least mine had Em there and it was fine.

it has more then the two. they kind look natural like they line the structures of his face

and the two are not the same as the rest. these are flush and just look like skin

you using carbon?
if so, what kind and how long did you rinse it?
is it being ground up in a filter somewhere....

I would continue to observe him for the rest of the six to eight weeks he needs to stay in quarantine. If you ever solve the problem of getting your photos to display, we'll be able to give better advice. It might be a good idea to do some kind of prophylactic treatment, just to be on the safe side.

From the description, maybe HLLE?

no my Q runs with a simple hang on and i rinse it for a few mins shake it and rinse again before adding the pad into the unit. i noticed one of these with darker spots much like mine but they were less noticable and he has been healthy and alive for months. i wonder if its a normal trait for these fish. i know its not ich it dosent look right for ick and ich dosent go in a noticable pattern it attacks everywhere. this is symetrical or at lease super close. and the anthia with him has nothing wrong at all.

now if i could just get him to sit still for a goo pic. these are as good as i could get. hope its enough. as you can see in a few it look very symetrical

For treatment if parasites I do a freshwater dip. Put the fish in small bucket of ro water (same temp) for 5 minutes then back into the qt tank. The fish will survive the 5 minutes in freshwater and the parasites won't. My blue morph would get them from time to time. Always looked perfect after 2 days back in the tank. Good luck

i tried to get some good ones showing how its symertical. The spots match from one side of the face to the other and how they follow the lines of the face.

Doesn't look like ich. May be hlle may be fungal. Hard to say. I'd say keep water params excellent and feed well. For faster results, an antibiotic like maracyn2 for one round should do the trick.

I have a Tomini now, its face was all pitted white until I changed/stopped carbon...
I'd stop using carbon for a while, see what happens.
...and if you do use it, go for the expensive stuff BRS sells

actually, my tomini didnt look like that, but my regal does from time to time. when he freaks/stresses out about something.

well not like white spots. just pitted looking like last dude said. it goes away quickly though. i dont know what it is. none of my fishes have had any disease. so THERE ive been thankful.(TRUST me, im knocking on wood right now)

Hope you figure it out.

It appears to be HLLE along with his nostrils. Ctenochaetus tangs are known detritivores and detritus had been even more prominent in gut analysis than algae in some instances. So, a bare QT tank isn't a very good place for them long term and may be contributing to the HLLE. Nor is a tank that is free of detritus for any reason.
