Hello all,
Not sure if this belongs here, or in the DIY section, but I'm hoping a mod will move it if it's in the incorrect place.

I'm using an external skimmer, it's going to be fed via a mag 3 (possibly a 5 with a gate valve) pump and 1/2" pipe. The skimmer return line is 1 1/4".

The overflow line from the DT is 1" which is split between the "dump" area and the feed for my refugium. The return line is 3/4" and is fed by a mag 7. I'm thinking of using a gate valve to adjust the flow rate into the tank. Additionally, I'm using a gate valve on the refugium feed in order to control the flow into the refugium.

I think I've seen some people run the pipes from the DT overflow and other overflows all the way down to the bottom of the sump, what's the reason for this? Just to make it quieter?

I've posted a picture of my proposed sump design, thoughts?

the only thing i would change is the fact that you have the skimmer the last thing you have the water go through, if it were me i would have the skimmer before the fuge so you dont skim out the pods or anything else coming from the fuge.

I like that suggestion. So, to accomplish this you think I should just move the skimmer feed line to the compartment that's all the way on the right side?
