too hot?

I'm interested in upgrading my lighting. I found a 24" 96W T5 fixture with Led moon lighting. I have an acrylic (30 tall) tank with an enclosed clear top. The mounting brackets won't attach to the tank. Could I set the unit right onto the acrylic top or would it get too hot for the acrylic?

While I think it would be fine, a 1" spacer for air flow would be much better.

i would place spacer in between just for air flow and eliminate the aspect if it was to get too hot. couple of small pieces of wood on the edges to prop it up would be my opinion.
