What test kit would you say is the best and easiest to test water quality for fish only tank?

hanna checkers are the best, no guessing straight results

Api is good for fish only and the whole kit is on sale at Dr foster and smith for 15.99 > http://www.drsfostersmith.com/fish-supplies/aquarium-water-quality-testing/ps/c/3578/4345

For a fish only tank, API should be fine. If you start adding some corals, then get into Salifert and the like. Make sure you store your test kits in a cool dry place and cap the reagants well.

+1, API is fine for fish only but I use Salifert for my reef tank.

Good point, forgot to mention a good refractometer.

refractometer for salt, hanna 736 for phosphate, hanna for alk. and the new Red Sea Pro kits for anything else. API is very unreleable and inaccurate. you get what you pay for. the Red Sea Pro's initial cost is higher to get the kit after that the refills are like $11. Salifert is great but a little more expensive compared to the new Red Sea Pro kits

+1 on API for fish only tanks.
