does anyone know if it would be better ic I took the acentic (sp) light out and put another 10 000k 18 watt bulb in if that would be better for corals? opinions?

Generally guys go for mor actinic light to help corals pop. You should read these:

Go LED and you can adjust it to your liking without replacing anything.

+1 on led I just built one for a 6 gallon I'm very happy I got them

If you aren't hung up on the blue look... you can get a 10k bulb or a 50/50 (10k/actinic bulb). I went the 50/50 route on my BC8.
10k probably gives better growth but less color.

I since have gone with a rapid LED DIY build. no heat and easy to dial.
