I recently acquired a used 125 gallon system with a complete Aqua Medic Blue Reef 1000 Filter system and a Aqua Medic Turboflotor 3000 Skimmer. Has anyone used this system and if so what would be your opinion on the system as far as effectiveness for a reef system.

Should I go ahead and use the system as is or should I sell it off and invest in a new system?

Is the skimmer good enough to handle a 125 gallon reef system?

How easy/hard is it to add a refugium to the system?

Are there any issues I should be aware of as far as limitations to the system?

Are there any modifications I should make before using this system if I decide to use it?

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated. And please give reasons for your opinions instead of just saying "It sucks" or "Its awesome".

Thank you.

Never seen that. Looks cool. Hella $$. I would ditch the wet dry though. A simple sump and the skimmer will provide the same results and you should make $$ selling the 1000$ filter

Kinda what I was thinking. Im looking at putting two 40breeders underneath. One as a sump and one as a fuge.

I have the 1000 blue and the t1000 stand alone both produce decent skim mat but need to be cleaned every 2-3 days or ski mate goes down a lot. I would use what you got you could run both if needed.

I use aquamedic skimmers turbofloter and I get great results, tried many others but I prefer aquamedic ease of use, and good skimming in sump or hangon mode, either way while others will state variuous opinions I like turbofloters and I tried octopus, euroreef, ets, and still aquamedic feel gives sufficient skimming up to 100 gallons. I trust german technology.
