View Full Version : crabs? Good or Bad lol

I got a few hitchhikers on my latest shipment of LR and they are a bit small for me to tell which they are.. Let me know if these guys are good to go.

Those two red ones look like mithrax crabs maybe, so possibly ok? The fuzzy one in the second pic looks like a baddy. I would sump it.

I would not take a chance with any of those crabs, though I am no expert.

If it were my tank I would not put them in, I would bring them into your local fish store. Perhaps use them to feed one of there trigger fish. :)

Top picture are two male red emerald crabs

Bottom picture could be a crab in Pilumnidae family (better picture needed)

My refugium is pretty much a "bad critter" tank -- my destructive peppermint shrimps, a brittlestar I suspect of eating several fish that slept on the substrate (zebra dartfish), and crabs galore.

I actually enjoy checking in on those rogues, and my kid loves feeding them.

I'm not sure how many pods I'll ever be able to grow in there, but it has personality to spare.
