Try berghia nudibranchs.. They eat the aiptasia growing between my Zoa/Paly colonies

Berghia Nudi's or peppermint shrimp is the natural way to do it but if the aiptasia is too big they won't go near it. You gotta joes juice it and the shrimp or nudi's will clean up the rest. Hope that helps.

My nudis have taken down 2" sized aipts they team up on the aipt.

You can also inject them with lime juice.

Berghia will eat every aiptasia of any size until there is none left. My 100g had wall to wall aiptasia and they are every single one, including the giants. I have zero aiptasia any where now.

But do they bother your Zoa's?

Reef Bass

Nope. All they eat is aiptasia.

They eat, live and crap just to EAT Aiptasia and ONLY aiptasia. Not good if you have ornamental shrimp as they will eat them.

I got some peppermint shrimp and the ones they didn't eat I just used Aiptasia X. The peppermint shrimp only ate some of the small ones.

I've used kalk paste, Aiptasia X and other aiptasia nukes, all it does it make tiny aipts grow all over the tank and spread them, yes u nuke the large aipt, but in its place as it desintegrates are 50 tiny new spores that just grows all over.

I had a huge outbreak in my 120 display, probably hundreds. First I tried Aptasia x, no success. Thought I was going to have to pull all my rock. Next I bought a filefish(previously used on aptasia) and a group of peppermint shrimp. Problem solved.. no idea who ate them all. Now when I see one pop up I use boiling water in a syringe and watch the peppermint swarm and eat the goo.

I had a file fish wiped out hundred aipts, but after he ate all, he went after the Z's and P's... lost lots of really nice Z's and P's and also bunch of famed nice ones.

as soon as the filefish ate all my aptasia, I sent him back to the LFS. agree they are not good with corals

how many shrimps or nudis are we looking at for a 125?

In my 75 I actually tried counting them and got about 125only only on the front side. I bought 6 peppermint shrimp and about 2 months later my tank was 100% clear of aptasia. I would definently recommend these little guys.

It is very hard to move aiptasia once you have it :(

+1 for Peppermint Shrimp. Only needed one for a 20 Long. I was doubtful for the first 2 days and then BAMMMM on the third day I was like wow. The only think is they will steal food when spot feeding any of my coral.

I wish there was something to eat my bubble algae (crabs don't seem to work).

Always try the natural way first, then if all the naturals don't work (pep. Shrimp, berghia nudis, aptasia eating filefish) go the chem. way.

Just don't overdose whatever aptasia chem. you choose. Most often the brand names are glorified kalk, so if you overdose your kh will sky rocket.
This is what I have found in my personal experience, anyone agree?

I would try the Copperband butterfly. It wiped out my aptasia in no time.

They live, breed only to eat aiptasia, after all gone they starve.

I injected mine with lemon juice. I got the syringe and needle at tractor supply company.

Best thing to do is to scrape off the rock with the pest ASAP.
If too many Aiptasias I guess the use of predators would be the best, like the shrimps and Berghia. That's what many on the mainland do.

Grandis.

My Aiptasia X does nothing but spreads the aiptasia. I would never recommend this product to anyone.

I had a peppermint shrimp in my tank to eat the aiptasia but he instead wanted my Bubble tip anemones :( I had to remove him and take him back to the LFS. So, if you have nice anemones I would not recommend a peppermint shrimp.

I'm probably going to try the berghia nudis that eat the stuff. I just wonder if they will go after my bubble tips as well?

No. Only aiptasia. They will touch nothing else
