My meanwell eln-60-48P wont shut itself down, even with the dimmer circuit completely disconnected

anyone have any ideas? I have not tuned it at all, just hooked up and ran it, i've been getting by, by using a timer on the whole thing, but I would like to get this sorted out for the reef controller I'm building

I'm running 12 3w leds on the channel, single channel setup

any ideas?

Unfortunately that is just the way they work. Of you want it completely off youist turn the power off like you are doing with a timer. One of the reasons I don't use them.

that's not how they are supposed to work, the spec sheet says below something like 1v they are supposed to turn off

Not all seem to behave this way. One out of the four I have on my tank exhibit this. It sort of functions as a very dim moonlight, not really bright enough to bother me.

If you short the unpowered dimming leads what happens?

The MWs need very little current to control the dimming leads. Something leaking current can keep them going. Even something inside them. If shorting them 'darks' the lighting then you may be able to add a shunt resistor and have the lights go all the way out.

Both of mine worked that way so I built the CAT4101 drivers instead for my LED's.

From the ordering information.. the meanwell part number eln-60-24D is what I purchased. The "D" is the designation for the dimming function, 0-10vdc. I am interested....

"hmmm"?

what size resistor should I use?

i use the 48p and just touching the bare wire with a finger turns the led's on lol . they are very sensative. but i wired mine like on reefledcontroller.com. with same resistors and it has been working great for 10months. but double check your wiring in the color coding on wires is a bit backwards from what i remember. but p series requires a pwm signal where the d just requires a certain voltage.

Get some 10K resistors. Start with one.
