So I'm buying a new 55 gallon with canopy and was wondering how, high the reef octopus bh 1000 sticks up above the tank for clearance issues. Please respond ASAP since I may pick the tank up tomorrow! Thanks!

Hi Ryand

from the edge of the back of the tank to the top of the collection cup it is approx 7.5 inches

the return pipe, sits 1.5 inches above the back edge of the glass

if your canopy is as wide as your aquarium or narrower , only the return pipe at 1.5 inches influences the canopy height

if your canopy is wider than your aquarium, it would need to be on legs about 8 inches tall and you would have to remove or at least tilt forward canopy in order to remove skimmer collection cup

If the canopy doesn't stick out behind the tank at all, you'll be fine. You might have to scoot the canopy forward a half inch or so when you open it to not press on the collection cup, but it hasn't been a problem at all for me.
