what is the best media to put into a phosphate reactor ?
Is phosBan good or Phoslock any better.

Ive used phosban in the past with good results, but have also herd good things about BRS's GFO ven though it has a high price.

What reactor? I would say that GFO from Bulk Reef Supply, Buckeye Field Supply, or The Filter Guys is the best bang for your buck. I used to use PhosaR, but they stopped making it :(

There are some good discussions of this in the Reef Chemistry Forum if you do a search.

I use the Bulk Reef Supply and love it. I use GFO and replace it every 6 weeks! Never had a problem.

I've been using a PhosBan reactor and it works great. Up until now I've been using the PhosBan GFO in it. It works fast but gets spent after about 3 weeks. Tonight I just used BRS high capacity GFO. I'm thinking it should last a good time longer. We'll see...

Thanks for the feed back I ended up getting BRS's GFO, waiting for it to come in.

I've used both GFO and PhosGuard and they both work well.

When you start to use either for the first time, they will be exhausted within about a day if there is a lot of phosphate in your system. Once you get it to a managable level, it will last longer.
