Starting with all dry rock and sand. Do you let the shrimp dissolve or not in a 12 gallon dx ?

you don't need to let it dissolve. Check your Ammonia levels every day, when it spikes up (I like to let it get as high as 1ppm) take it out. toss a couple flakes in each day. When the ammonia is 0 every night continue on!

I should mention if you're starting with all dry rock and all dry sand, you might want to toss a bottle of biospira in there, or some sort of "Bacteria insta-cycle" just to give it a start. You may also want to seed some live pods post cycle.
