I have a standard 50g acrylic tank that i will be setting up to use as my sump for my 75g. the skimmer i am looing at, 6" reef octopuss, has a 8.5"x10"5" foot print but the sump only has a 6.5" opening because of the brace. will it be ok to trim the brace down so that the skimmer will fit?
Right now the brace is about 3" all the way around so the sump would still have some bracing and the sump will only be about half full so there will not be as much pressure as if it were being used as a DT.

If you glue in the baffles you can safely trim the eurobrace. The baffles will provide the additional strength needed to trim the top brace.

I was also planning on putting baffles in. I forgot about the additional support they will provide
