So I want to freshwater dip a few of my fish before going into there new home and was wondering what the best way to raise ph in the freshwater is? I've read baking soda or ph buffers? Personal experiences?

O and coud it be used for long term buffer such as quarantining with hypo

most do use baked baking soda for hypo. Bake baking soda at 350 degress for 30 mins. More effective that way.

DO you happen to know how much to add per gallon or anythign like that? I'd hate to do trial and error for the whole day or two. I will be using a 20 gallon for QT and a 3 gallon for Freshwater Dip

Honestly, I wouldnt concern myself with pH unless its way off the charts. I find it a waste. Worry about alkalinity, not pH.

And what rule of per gallon are you trying to ask?

What is considered Way off the charts? and I was referreing to how many teaspoons/tablespoons of baking soda to increase a gallon of water ph by so much...

Yeah I read that earlier it is a great article! Doesnt mention though how long the baking soda can keep the ph elevated..in my case besides the freshwater dip I wnt to QT with hypo and am worried about low ph.
