What is the reason(s) for painting the rear glass panel that some people do?

I painted mine so you cant see the wall, lightswitch or any cords that run behind the tank. Also there is more contrast between the black glass and corals.

I painted mine because I got tired of water getting in between the glass and the backgrounds I used to tape on. It used to look horrible with the streaks and the dried salt marks. I am very happy that I painted my tank even though I was pretty apprehensive.

We have both Redseamax tanks and they come with a black back already.....I agree they add contrast...

Personal preference. I think those stick on displays look sloppy and end up getting crap between them and the glass.

So you cant see whats behind the tank. Any cords, plumbing and so on.

And yes the stick on backings suck.

I didnt want to go with the all black or all blue paint. I ended up cutting out a stencil...

I used black, aqua blue and navy blue for the final.....

I think you have Aiptasia in your background....(just kidding!) Nice idea!

The funny part is that I am actually dealing with an Aiptasia outbreak.

I plan to paint the back of mine when I get it Michelle....
I was thinking of black background with green plants painted in first.
But I like the stencil idea...

That looks great lg7228!

Yep, just personal preference/aesthetics. Funny thing is, soon coraline algae will just cover the back soon unless you really keep up on keeping it scraped off.
