I have a 29 gallon with a refugium. I was planing for the fish 2 clown 1 6 line wrasse, 1 purple firefish, 1 regular firefish, 3 chromis, and a royal gramma. Plus 3 turbo snails and 2 sand snails. Then some shrimp. And after that coral. What do yall think. Too much? Or just right?

I would leave one of the firefish out and the chromis too. As a replacement maybe look at blennies?

Sounds like a lot to me. I'd say ditch the chromis. Not many people have much luck with them anyway from what I hear. Also two firefish may fight with each other.

I would leave the six line out too... very aggressive in small tanks.

I'd say in a 29 to go for the clowns, and maybe two other small fish. Too many fish turns into tons of work

You will find everything will go well for a while and wonder what all these cautionary posts are about. But sooner or later the chromis' or the wrasse will exert themselves and problems will ensue.
