I have mine in gentle flowing water, probably about low to medium flow and they seem to like it. They definitely like to eat - my favorite coral to feed. Total pigs! Feed 1-2x a week. Mine do well on pellets and meaty foods.

$10/head is good personal sale price, ya.

I have my single head chilling in the corner of my tank sitting in the sand and it gone from 1 head to 2 with 2babies...in about 3-4months w/o feeding

+1 they are pigs and fun to feed. They have quickly become my favorites. I paid $19 a head a couple of weeks ago, so I'd say you did well.

Well it's been two weeks and a new head is starting to grow. I been feeding it every other day is this to much? I'll take a pic when i get a chance.

That is not too much, I used to feed my duncan every day and went from 3 heads to 8 heads in about 2 months...I have since stopped feeding because feeding my dendros are enough lol

They can handle all kinds of light if properly acclimated to it, just don't batter them with flow.

My duncan colony is need of fragging as it will be growing into my frogspawn shortly. Little nervous to frag as I have seen/read that they are not simple to frag. Any tips?

Get a dremmel or a Makita and cut the stocks.

Do they heal similar to hammers, torches, etc?

Hafta 20 bucks is a fair price. Ten dollars a head is pretty common but I have seen some LFS's charging 20 a head.

If there is dead skeleton on the stalk that would be the best place to cut if not you can still cut thru "skin" (not sure of the right terminology)

Then mount with marine putty to a rock. The skin quickly grows over the putty.

Good deal. might have to give it a go. I have a colony of 3 that has expanded to 12+ in less than 3 months and I don't have time to dose just a 10 gallon water change every 2 weeks. I could trade some of the heads in for a new frogspawn or torch!

I was told they were difficult to keep but so far it seems to be doing great. I see three new heads starting to pop out.

I do not know who told you that they are hard to keep but they could not be more wrong. They are an extremely hardy coral, IMO.

Here is another question, the frag that i got came on one of them plastic plug, will the Duncan eventually cover it or will i need to eventually remove it from the frag? So far the frags that i have gotten came attached to rocks so no issues with them.

The "skin" may or may not grow onto the plug . Most of its growth will be the heads budding and branching out.
If you do not like the look of the plastic you could always cut it off and attach the duncan to a piece of LR or Dry Rock. If the heads are really close to the plug it might be best to wait till it branches out more so you do not damage the polyps.

I remeber a few years ago when they were fairly new to the scene I seen $25/head.

I have found that they will grow over pretty much anything and mine has gotten a larger and larger base as it ages. When I got it, the base was skinny because it had 4 heads. The base is now atleast 2-3" wide and continues to expands as it grows more heads. I am also going to try placing it on a rock when I move tanks and see if it will encrust over the rock and create new colonies as the skin expands over the rock. I have the feeling it will but have not seen anyone try it with a large enough rock.

I got a frag with 2 heads in March. Fed it chunks of fish 2-3 times a week. Now it has about 20 heads and I stopped direct feeding it and its growth has slowed but it is still doing well. As far as fragging goes, I've had luck ****ing it off so it retracts most of the way and trying to get atleast some of the bone. That way you can just superglue it to a plug or rock. Atleast thats how I do it.

I see what you mean about the plastic plug. Very Un-natural looking !
You could very easily use some marine putty to cover up the pastic and make it look like LR. I use Oatey Fix-it stick from Home Depot works great.

You can see how I mounted these Duncan frags with the putty and how it looks. After a month or so, they actually blend in to the rock or the duncan encrust over it.

Do you just mold it like clay? I don't have to take out the rock, do I? I'm guessing this stuff is safe for the water.

Yeah, basically you cut a piece off and you just work the inner and outer epoxys together till they are mixed and mold it like clay. It is safe for your livestock but may make the protein skimmer go crazy for a bit. So make sure you are around for a while to empty your skimmate cup.

I bought my Duncan with 4 heads for $30. Just depends on lfs. They grow fast enough to frag and then sell to get initial investment back.

Feeding time: 19 heads on two colonies. I bought these 2 heads each :)
