Is there a typical snails per gallon ratio? I have read 1 per gallon......?

Those "per gallon" rules really only work for measuring additives. For snails, it depends on the type of snail. Was there any particular kind that you were looking at picking up? And what size tank? The new 60 gal mentioned in your sig?

Its pretty much trial and error. Their isn't a basic requirement. I found that the 1to 1gal ratio is too much. In my 90 gal I have about 40 blue legs and 10 red le hermits and about 50assorted snails(turbo's astrea cereth and stominellas) . This works for my tank but may not work for someone else with the same size. Different tanks and tank maintanence could cause you to have more or less of a clean up crew than someone with the same tank.
