Hi all,
I am setting up a 65 gallons sps tank that will have a 30 gallon sump. I plan to stock it a little on the heavy side, but not crazy. I am just now getting the equipment in order and only have a skimmer to get and was hoping I could get some help.

I am looking in the $300 range and was looking at reef octo or swc, or anything that will fit my needs. I was thinking the reef octo xs 160 or 200, but would these be overkill?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I would look at the RO SRO XP1000SSS.

The SSS is a bit over 300. The SRO 1000-int is like 280. Nearly identical skimmers, the SSS just has a different cone and a smaller footprint. I just ordered a 1000int and should get it this week, but if you look around youll find a lot of reviews on both. From what ive read, you cant go wrong with either one.

I wonder what is a better pump, the bubble blaster hy-1000 or the Sicce PSK-600? The SRO is pretty much the same price as the XS-160. I like the design of the xs160 since the pump is in the skimmer, but it's not reason enough to not think of the SRO. Thanks.

I currently have a swc 160 and think it is a great skimmer for the money. Some people have complained that it is a bit touchy though. It is my first cone skimmer though, so I can't really compare it to another cone.

I like my Aqua Euro 250 Skimmer. Its a great skimmer.

It would be a good choice for your tank especially if you plan on stocking a little on the heavy side.

Octo xs160 would be right on the money.

Well I think I may have done something bad. I was on ebay just looking around, and I happened to come across a SRO 2000INT. I am sort of new to the ebay thing and I made a real low offer and it was accepted, so I bought it lol. I didn't think it would be accepted.

I know this is a pretty oversized skimmer for my tank. Does anyone have experience with oversized skimmers or should I look into trading this with someone looking to upgrade? I just feel like a made a pretty bad purchase. Will I even get any skimmer performance out of this?

Thanks for any input.
