I'm about to setup my new 55g tank and I would like to transfer "all" the livestock from my current 7g nano - 2 clowns, green acro, hystrix, 2 acans, some zoas and a blasto.

Now, some reefers told me not to just fill the new tank with newly made saltwater and drop my corals in it, as it would be "too strong" for the current stock. Asked why they said that my current animals are not used to "pure, salty water" and that I could never match the exact parameters.

Now, I know about drip acclimation and I asked if that would work, but they said again that the "new water" cannot be adjusted to.

What they suggested was to make 7-10g of water, add my current water to that and pour all that in the new tank. This would create a ~4" depth which would be enough to keep the LR and corals under water, Then add 5g of new water every other day until half tank half full, then make a large batch and fill it up.

I would really need some advice on this or previous experiences, if any. Thanks!
