So you know those par38 bulbs you can buy pretty much anywhere? I was wondering how many of those bulbs I would need over a 20 high. Are they even any good?

i have 4 over my 20 long, although my tanks is mostly sps and a maxima clam. i think 2 with 80 degree optics would work for you over a 20 high

i use ecoxotic, i have 40 degree optics for max penetration, unfortunately it gives you a really narrow path of light and spotlight effect. not much spread. try something with 80 degree optics, there are alot of companies making par 38 bulbs now, maybe try a search here or on google

I have two rapidLed Par38 bulbs on my 30 cube and they are great... multi color is the one I have and they show every color in the tank and give a nice look...

rapid led is also one that i have used, and i like that it has 7 leds instead of 5, plus the color comb. is pretty dope! and i believe a bit cheaper then the ecoxotic ones..

I've read that Ledtric and coralcompulsions have a broader spectrum/diversity of LED's (they include cyan and deep red); the coralcompusions is dimmable. Not cheap, though ($110). :-p
For a clam, I'd think that you would need to keep it close to center under one of the bulbs.
