Bought some live rock 3 weeks ago to seed my Marco rock. I've seen what almost looks like a white fluffy fuzz getting larger on this rock. here is a pic i took with my phone

ya, i know. not a great pic. the rock when i got it looked like a piece of coral to begin with. the texture of the rock reminded me of a Favia but it was flat. it was red and green after about 2 weeks a film started covering part of the rock and then the white circular fuzzy film formed....all the shapes seen in the picture are rock. i guess i'll just have to keep watching it and see

My guess is it could be early slime algea and the faster you address it the better. Unwanted algea groes best with higher phosphate levels and low water flow and bad maintance scedule.

used ro/di water from walmart. 2 power heads. one is a hydor rated at about 900 gph and the other is a cheap one rated at 700 which i think is actually less. 75g tank

All i see in the pic is a dieing coral. Maybe a brain. You might have a little low flow but not that much. But the tank looks pretty new. If it is cycling and that is stoney coral then it will die off.

there was no coral when i bought the rock... the stuff on there has only just appeared in the last week. the rock itself looked like it had been a coral at one time, died and then calicfied which is what you see in the picture as far as looking like a coral. since i bought it, a film has covered part of it and now the film looks cottony white in places... dunno.. i guess i'll watch and see.. thanks for looking
