I have read through lots of information and think I have my plan together. Set-up: 180 Gallon FOWLR display tank, oversized wet-dry with 10 g sump section, 20 g refugium, and 20 g additional sump compartment. I figure 200 - 220 gallons of water, so going to be a 6" or 8" Hawkfish DIY PS design (http://www.hawkfish.org/sailman/diy8inskimmer.htm).

The Question: Lots of people are suggesting not using airstones due to cost and maintenance. However, what can be used instead to create air WITHOUT introducing more water turbulance, as I understand that the lower the turbulance at the bottom of the cylynder allows more pollutants to attach to the water and be removed. I also do not need anymore flow to the skimmer, as it will be directly hooked to the tank overflow with a valve to control flow to the PS and other filtration areas.

Thanks in advance,
