Which kit is preferred, Salifert or API? Does it really make a difference?

I wouldn't recommend API. It's not precise enough for what we need. Honestly, I havn't found a nitrate test that I like yet. I use red sea kits and the only one I don't trust is the Nitrate tests. I've received two now and both of the reagent bottles have been clogged or not pierced correctly in the nipple to give out drops.

Nitrate kits do have a questionable reputation on average. The Salifert did well in one test-off, but that was a while back. I suspect either is acceptable in most situations. The API kits do seem to expire more rapidly.
