I have this 1.5'' bulkhead with threading on both ends. And I have a male adapter for 1.5'' pipe.

This adapter screws in almost full from the bottom, but only half as much from the top. Is this normal? I've tried it with another bulkhead and adapter and getting the same results.

I'm afraid that if I will use the teflon tape it will get even worse.

Pipe threads have a taper to them so it is very possible that they will vary from fitting to fitting. Use the teflon tape and tighten it up. It doesn't have to bottom out to seal.

Thanks, it is just kind of weird that one side would be tapered and the other would not. Even if there is a tiny leak on that end - it won't hurt, since it is inside the overflow.
