So I have my ATO container that has a pump in it, it pumps into a hose, up and out of the container. So I know the end of the hose must be above the water level in my ATO container so it does not siphon. But if the hose that comes out of the container goes down past the ATO water level but then loops up and exits above the water level. Will it start a siphon?

So does it matter if the hose exits above the water line or does it matter where the lowest part of the hose is?

A siphon can form whenever the water level is above the exit level of a hose.

It only matter where the two ends are, not the middle. The water still has to obey the laws of gravity. Just like everything else.
