I noticed one day last week I had a spider web looking slime on a piece of rock. I didn't think anything of it since it disappeared the next day.

Today I noticed the stuff on a different piece of rock.

Some people said it was a vermatid snail. I don't see a tube anywhere near the slime substance... so what is it?

Thanks

It's probably either a sponge or tunicates, but I'm not sure which. If it's what I'm thinking, it's a harmless filter feeder. I've got them all over my tank in small patches. Some last a long time and some disappear quickly, probably based on food availability and flow.

blurry pic but seems like a sponge.

Thanks for the responses.

Just to clarify... I know it looks like it was covering the rock. The substance was actually swaying in the current. It was just attached to the rock on the right side.

I scooped it out and looking at it... reminded me of the clear mucous like material from oysters.
