Going to dive back into the hobby soon and I am looking into getting either a 120g rr or a 125 g rr , both tanks fit my budget as a brand new set up and I wanted some opinions on which tank do you guys think is more suited for reefing.

What are the dimensions? Standard or something custom?

If the 120 is wider I would go with that because there is a more usable footprint for rock and corals.

Sorry forgot about the dimensions , it would be the standard 120 48.5" x 24.5" x 25.5" or the standard 125 72.5" x 18.5" x 23.4" - Reef Ready of course

I would go with the 125 then. I would always take longer then shorter.

The tank you select is total depends on your preferences and available spaces. If you have a narrower and longer space then go on with 125.

The tank also depends what is your setup. If you are thinking FOWLR then I would def go with 125 more room from end to end for fish to swim. I would go with 120 with deeper dimension for rock works for corals if you are getting more into corals.

I'm biased, but I would go with the 120. It just gives you so many more options for creating rockscapes. I like the deeper front to back and it also saves you in the cost of lighting and that sort of thing.

Ya it really depends on what you are wanting to keep. Larger fish that need the extra length or smaller schools that would look sweet in a deeper tank. I still like the dimensions of the 120 for a reef tank.

I would go for the 120 as well. Many more possibilities for aquascaping. As for the 125 being better for larger fish that need the swimming room - they also need room to turn around. By the time you put your live rock in there won't be much room for that.
