Hey so my idea is to get rid of my powerheads and replace them with h.o.b. Return lines.the question is my return plumbing is 3/4 i would like to combine the h.o.b return with my internal return that are already plumbed. I would like to only have one return pump not multiple ones for electricity and heat reasons. Can i uograde to a 1" return pump and hard plumb it to have 2 to 3 barb fittings come off but reduced to 3/4"to accommodate for existing plumbing. I'll try to draw a picture of what I'm taking about. Im just trying to figure out if its possible.

So you want to not use the hob pump and just feed its inlet from the return pump.? if so sure... many people are running "return manifolds" and feeding reactors/other tanks/etc....
but you are losing flow removing the powerheads and then reducing the flow even more sending it through a hob. Hope you had too much flow.

Im trying to get rid of power heads because i have 5 bta anemone. So i want to replace them with hob returns. So basically in the end have 4 returns no power heads..

How big is your tank.

IMO i think this is a bad idea you will need a huge pump and a several 1.5 or 2 inch drains not to mention the sound of crashing water that you will have. The rule of thumb is to run 3-5 times the tank volume though the sump not 50x the tank volume.

Why dont you just get some sponge filters for your power heads and be done with it?

60 gallon. 48"long 25 gallon sump
I currently have a rio 2500 but its not powerfull enough.
I was thinking a 1200+ gph pump split to all 4 returns.
I have a 1 1/2 drain.
I want these power heads out to much worry with these bta anemones..
