have you had any that have focused on PAR, and the importance of PAR and understanding how it works and how its important in proper coral growth, health and color?
jus an idea... its something not too many folks really understand at all... buts it really is very vital in keeping corals and a health looking reef IMO...

i like the Par idea and maybe a discussion on what corals liek what types of lighting...
when i read on coral websites ..xyz coral likes "moderate" lighting... what that the heck does that even mean?
LED vs T5 VS MH discussion?

could the following also be included:
would there be a way to take pics of their tank in various lite modes, explain what type of lites, tank sizes then display then on the screen at the Lutz?
Q & A could then be discussed.

In the end it means the amount of usable PAR they are getting...

A simple projector and a white wall could do it.
Depending on my schedule i could "borrow" a projector from work...

Typical good par for low level to high level corals is 150 to about 450 or 500 or so... From what I've read and learned... The sun from the par is around 1500 if I remember right...

Too bad you all hadn't thought of that topic a week ago. Marc Levinson has a great presentatuion on PAR that he gave to Boston last Saturday. He could have given it again at CMAC.

I have a projector and am currently running all three light sources on my tank. My picture taking abilities on the other hand are crap. The corals that did make the move are few but they have some nice colors that do show differently and also have a color changing led bulb that real will show the difference with reds and greens among your color choices.

most hqi's give 1500 also. once they hit the water it drops to 500-and down.

I would love to attend a meeting on PAR. I have 2 Acan prisms. I think i heard once that its hard to figure out PAR on LED's. Is that the case? Also does anyone have a meter that can calculate my tank. My corals and I would appreciate it.

If you are a member of the club for at least 90 days you can borrow the clubs par meter. It might not be 100% accurate with leds, and without some crazy equation you will never get exact numbers, but it will definitely give you your round about par numbers.
