I was at my LFS the other day and saw this anemone. It looks like a bta but not a colour I have ever seen. Its kind of a light purple with mint green tips.

Any ideas?

Yep, it's a BTA. They come around every now and then. Purple is pretty uncommon, but it occurs in all the same patterns as red, green, brown, and yellow.

glad to hear its a bta. I picked it up because regardless of species it looked healthy. Maybe it will split for me.

Nice BTA. Keep us posted on how it goes in the next few weeks. I wonder if it'll change colors once acclimated to reef setting.

Thanks

I thought it might be bleached a bit but Im not sure what colour would bleach to purple. If it was supposed to be green it would go brownish. We will see at any rate.

It should do fine in my tank. I have a haddoni in the tank that I have had for over 2 years so the tank is stable enough.

I don't think it's a bta, every one I have seen has white markings around the mouth.

There are some purple BTAs circulating in my area (Richmond, VA). If I remember the story, the "original" was a hitchhiker that grew out and has split several times, as have its clones. I've never seen one personally, just pictures, but the pictures are gorgeous.

They usually have 4 white lines that seem to make a cross with the mouth in the middle. Some lines are more evident and some are faded but still can be seen.I agree with Rutrag the anemone is awesome looking and seems healthy.

While the white lines are a positive identifier, they are not required for a proper ID
