Just got him the other day. He's tiny and currently sitting in a 10g QT. Seems very healthy so far and eating everything in site.

So is it eating? If so what are you feeding it?

It's eaten everything I've offered so far! Silversides, squid, mysis, krill and clam.

Question: he's pretty small, probably around 5" total, how often should I feed it? I know bigger ones are fine 2-3 times a week but what about younger ones? I've just been feeding him every other day.

Nice looking fimby...I feed my tiny eels every other day..thankfully I have a couple eating pellets. Can't imagine a fimby doing so. Will it be the only eel in tank?

As of now, yes. I'm really tempted to get a teselata eel that this store by my parents has for $50, but it is a lot bigger than mine. Mine's only about 5"-7" and the teselata they have is probably 1' 1/2". I'm scared that if I get it, it might try to eat mine because of the size difference. I don't know if eels prey on other eels though.

Morays will prey on smaller morays...especially big aggressive types like tesselatas. Id go with smaller eels of similar aggression ...perhaps blackedge moray. I have both, and like the contrast in personality...since blackedge is active and out and about much more

Thats a awesome eel.. feeding wise, when my guy was little, he was about the thickness of a pencil and no more than a few inches long.. and it was every other day and small bits for the first while with as much variety as you can offer..

I bought it as a yellow head moray, but I think they're also called Fimbriated morays (Gymnothorax fimbriatus)

Good to know. Looks like I'll be passing on that Tesselata. Such a good deal though! I've never seen one less than $150 here and that one was only $50!
