Am I doing the right thing?

I setup my QT about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago when I got my clown goby and one green chromis. It's a ten gallon that I've been doing about 1/3 water changes every other day sometimes 1/2 water changes. I feed once a day a very small amount and remove whatever is not eaten after about 15 minutes. I'm also adding seachem stability to try and help the cycle process. I'm still showing ammonia after one day or so after water changes? Am I at least on the right track?
