LF Advice: Skimmer for 29g

Hey all,
Hoping you could give me some advice on whether or not a skimmer is necassary in a 29g reef tank. I do not have a sump so I am limited to a hang on back if I do get one. Also if I do need one what are some brands I should look into? New to the hobby so any advice would be appreciated.

It is not absolutely necessary but it will reduce the frequency in which you need to make water changes and improve water quality between changes. I can't speak for given brand of HOB skimmer, but I was very happy with my Tunze DOC 9002 when I ran one on my 28 gallon tank but it was an in sump skimmer.
