I have read up on them and am willing to take the risk of it moving around while it finds an ideal home. Does anyone know if it will move often, or, will it stay put provided the lighting and water quality doesn't falter? Thanks!

I had one once before. It stayed where I placed it. Dug its foot in the sand and kept its grip on the glass bottom. I had no problems with it, and sometimes wish I had another.

I had one as well and never had any problems with it wandering. The only draw back in my eyes was how quickly it grew. In about two years, it went from 3" when inflated to over a foot.

Wow, size is definitely a concern. I do like them though and in this setup I am going to be doing softies and nems only. So, maybe it will work. So, if I do get one should I just release it into the tank and let it do its thing or should I try and encourage it to stay somewhere?

Dave, I have had a MAxi Mini in my 7.5g for almost a year now, and it does great and only gets to about 6" accross which is where it is now. It has moved a bit as of late but doesn't ssem to bother my shrooms or zoos as that's all that tank has. Your welcome to come do some homework at my place anytime
PS, Clowns do not host Maxi Minis, but my sexies dance all over it. Fun to watch

Mine attached to the first place I put it and never moved. Not to say that you'll have the same experience, but I'd say it's worth a try to coax it to stay where you'd like.
