I'm getting a 50 gallon and have a MAG9.5 it will be pushing the water up 4ft. Also I'm going to have a 20long sump. Just wondering if this might be too much. Thanks.

I would think a mag 5 or 7 would suffice, 9.5 would be overkill in a 50g IMO. I ran a mag7 on my 75g SPS tank and it was more than enough flow through the sump.

I had a mag 9 running on my old 55 gallon setup with a similar head pressure to deal with. I needed to throttle it back to ~50-60% to keep things balanced.
