Looking to buy or build a great refugium oriented sump for my 75g tank. I have a Hagen rimless 25g tank that I could use for a custom sump. I am looking for the perfect plan, big refugium, space for skimmer, 1 filter sock, space for returns, heater and probes.

This is the plan i'm looking at right now.

When I set up my sump, I used a basic 20 gallon long. I knew I would be tight on space and that was about the max I could go. I went to lowes and got 4our pieces of glass cut for baffles... drain, fuge, bubble trap and return. My fuge is the biggest area.

The design you are looking at is basically the same design I have. If u click on this link, my build thread, the sump is about midway down the first page:

That's pretty much what I was planning, How did you plumb yours?

I drew this up in Illustrator

I'm far from a veteran in this world, but a couple personal recommendations...

Ditch the bioballs and sponge. Not needed. The sponge maybe. Instead of bioballs, run LR rubble in there for a MUCH better result.

Also, watch how tall you make your baffles. While it increases your overall running volume, it also gives less room for overflow during a power outage and you risk overflowing your sump.

Will LR rubble catch stray macro algae? Thanks for pointing out that flaw in my design, totally forgot about that.
