I'm new to predator fish, and I learned that you do not feed a lionfish daily, to simulate the feast/famine cycle in nature for predator fish. I also have a blue throat trigger. As the title asks, do you feed a trigger daily, or only 2-3 times a week like a lionfish? Thanks!!

I used to feed my sargasum daily, and I would just skip a day or two every now and then.

Thanks for the quick reply, Dan. I was thinking that as planktonic feeders, sargasum triggers don't realy go through a feast/famine cycle.

Triggers are daily. In the wild the feed quite heavily and are not ambush preditors like lion fish. I feed my 8 inch Hawaii blue jaw aqua treasures mysis and krill two small feedings a day soaked in vita chem. Their colors will fade otherwise.

Mrscribbled is correct. Triggers are not true predators. They fit more into the aggressive side of the equation. they need to be fed a few times a day

Thank you, all. Gives me confidence in taking care of bluethroat. He started out not eating anything for almost 2 weeks. Now, he will eat anything: mysis, clam, silversides, krill, flake, gel food, pellets, the feeding stick, my finger..... LOL!!! I'll feed smaller amounts daily.

Two times a day here. NLS pellets in the morning. They learn to eat pellets real quick when everyone else is chowing down. Mix of seafood and pellets in the afternoon.
