Wanting to see how small one could make an overflow, I tried a few theories like

and 3D printed a copy

but at about 1000gph there is a 1Hz cavitation so its not dead silent. And while the pvc clamping rod works great, if the down pipe isn't supported its considerable leverage negatively impacts the seal.
