Was shining a flashlight into the tank tonight and found some weird white mouldy looking stuff underneath my brain coral. It hasn't been opening up as much as usual for the past week.
Anyone seen this before?

Looks like a sponge. Some species may release toxins in order to fight for space, while others can grow so fast to outcompete the coral.

If it's causing an issue, you may try taking the coral out of the water for a few seconds. Some species die quickly after exposure to air (watch your chemicals after). You could also scrub it gently off with a toothbrush, then dip the coral in a 10:1 tank water to hydrogen peroxide mix for about 20 seconds (or less if the coral starts looking bad).

A toothbrush got most of it off, but I've found that the sponge is growing into the skeleton, causing the flesh to recede back.
