Nitrite help!

My nitrites 6 days ago where at 2ppm. I did a 40% water change and got them to go down to 1. I did another change yesterday, 30%. And now they are around .5ppm. Will they keep dropping. Also it's a 55g tank with a 6'' Oscar. Can anyone help me with my nitrite levels?

Is the tank still new? Nitrite should go down to undetectable levels as a part of the initial 3-4 week cycle.

Nitrite isn't toxic in saltwater tanks, but I'm not sure what kind of setup you might have.
